The Gulf Shores and Mobile Causeway Original Oyster House restaurants closed early for its annual Christmas party in December to celebrate its employees and award staff members who exemplify the company’s mission, core values and excellence the coveted Employee of the Year awards. Karen Taubel, a long-time server and Chris Johnson, back of the house stock employee were named the 2018 Employees of the Year for the Mobile Causeway location. Victoria Cruz, a long-time key manager and second time winner and Britney Kelley, a cashier were named the 2018 Employees of the Year for the Gulf Shores location.

“Karen Taubel is well loved not only by our guests but by our employees because she’s the first to help out. She has been with us for 21 plus years and lives our core values,” stated Jim Harrison, general manager of the Original Oyster House on the Mobile Causeway. “Chris Johnson is another loved and dedicated coworker who started in back in 1999. He too goes above and beyond and helps everyone who asks. We are so blessed to have them as employees and look forward to many years to come,” said Harrison.

“Victoria Cruz basically got us through the summer rush when we were short a kitchen manager. We couldn’t have served that many folks without her. She’s a two-time winner of Employee of the Year because she is reliable, loyal and very hardworking,” said Bud Morris, general manager of Original Oyster House in Gulf Shores. “Britney Kelley wears multiple hats including cashier, bartender host and busser. She’ll do whatever you ask her to do and always wears a smile,” said Morris.
