Saraland, Ala., September 6, 2019 — David Carrington, Jr., vice president of Carrington Foods, invited several members of the management team from the Original Oyster House restaurants to tour its recent plant expansion and enjoy a seafood product tasting.

Since 1971, the family-owned and operated Carrington Foods has shown steady growth, evolving from a local, to a regional and now to a national supplier of food products. Today its product line includes cornbread stuffing, stuffed jalapeno peppers and wide variety of seafood offerings. Only procuring raw materials from suppliers that uphold sustainable processes, Carrington Foods strives for ecological ethical practices and is SQF certified, assuring safe, quality food products.

“What a huge benefit it was to see the Carrington Foods process first-hand,” said David Dekle, founder of the Original Oyster House. “We were able to see the company’s development, learn their strategies and understand some of their challenges, which are similar to ours. We appreciated how Carrington Foods can customize products to match our exact requirements, and how they invested in technology/ equipment to ramp up production,” said Dekle.

The Original Oyster House has become the “must-go-to” place for great fresh Gulf seafood, service and Southern hospitality and for its panoramic waterfront sunsets. A top-spot for hand-shucked and fire-grilled oysters, the Original Oyster House has also become legendary for its homemade gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp, as well as handcrafted desserts including its famous Peanut Butter Pie. In 2016, the Original Oyster House became the first restaurant in the state of Alabama to recycle oyster shells through the Alabama Coastal Foundation. In July of 2019, an estimated 9 million oyster shells to date have been recovered from participating Gulf Coast restaurants.

The Original Oyster House (OOH) has two locations, Mobile: 3733 Battleship Parkway, on the Causeway and Gulf Shores: 701 Gulf Shores Parkway on the Original Oyster House Boardwalk. Both locations offer spectacular waterfront views and have been celebrated as the area’s finest family restaurants for the past 36 years.
