Original Oyster House honors two Baldwin County students with 6th Annual Chelsea Garvin Spirit Award Scholarship Program

Fairhope, AL. — The Original Oyster House honored two Baldwin County art students with our 6th Annual Chelsea Garvin Spirit Award Scholarship Program. This is the sixth year we have given scholarships to area senior art students in the name of Chelsea, a former Fairhope High School art student, Fish River Fire Department Rescue Diver and Original Oyster House employee. Tragically, Chelsea was killed in a boating accident in the fall of 2005.

On May 12, 2011, at the Fairhope High School Senior Awards Ceremony Tracy Pierce, Marketing Director, presented Kyle Roth with one of two $1000 scholarships. Kyle, originally from Diamondhead, Mississippi moved with his family to Fairhope after being misplaced after Hurricane Katrina. Kyle was a soccer player for the Fairhope Pirates and plans to pursue his artistic endeavors at the University of Mobile.

On May 19, 2011, at the Spanish Fort High School Senior Awards Ceremony Tracy Pierce, presented Denise Jackson with the second $1000 Chelsea Garvin scholarship. Denise, a National Art Honor Society member plans to study art at the University of Troy this fall.

Congratulations to both of these talented and deserving art students, they are shining examples of what is right with Baldwin County School art programs.
