Based on our name, you probably already know that the Original Oyster House is a great place to go to find oysters seasoned and prepared in a wide variety of ways. However, we also offer many different types of dishes, including quite a few appetizers and entrees featuring the world’s most popular seafood: shrimp.
With two restaurants located conveniently close to the Gulf of Mexico, we’re able to serve up some of the best shrimp in Gulf Shores and Mobile, AL. We work with local vendors to source wild shrimp that has been naturally flavored by the nutrient-rich waters of the Gulf. With a direct route from local fishmongers to our kitchen to your plate, you’ll get some of the freshest shrimp around. Whether you’re a local who was raised on Gulf seafood or a visitor hoping to try some of our region’s signature food, we think you’ll be pleased with what we bring to the table.

As you may remember from the movie Forrest Gump, there are dozens of delicious ways to prepare shrimp. At the Original Oyster House, you can get shrimp that has been fried, grilled, boiled, steamed, baked, or stuffed—and that’s barely scratching the surface. If you’re craving a Southern classic, we recommend Josh’s Shrimp and Grits, which comes with tender blackened shrimp served over our hearty cheese grits. For a modern take on a childhood classic, try our Ultimate Grilled Cheese, which features blackened popcorn shrimp and Gouda cheese in between two slices of buttered and grilled sourdough bread. This grilled cheese comes with our famous seafood gumbo, which contains shrimp in addition to crab meat and flounder in a rich, dark roux.
